I have 15 years experience in user experience design, research and project management in wide-ranging environments including client-side media, digital agency, investment bank, NHS clinical settings, construction project management.

In addition to taking a user centred design approach I seek to identify the business goals, or to assist in determining them. I try to not only elicit requirements from stakeholders but also to understand technical constraints so that designs are feasible to implement and also pave the way for enhancements.

I think we are working in very exciting times with new platforms, interaction techniques, business models and a proliferation of uses of software and technology that is now starting to become ubiquitous and integrated.

Previously I worked in research at a leading investment bank (Societe Generale) but after reading Jakob Nielsen’s Designing Web Usability in 2000 I knew my interests and skills fitted perfectly with HCI. To prepare for this career change I studied anthropology, cognitive science and HCI, as part of this some original research I designed and carried out was published in a peer reviewed journal and has since been widely cited.

I’m currently working as an Experience Architect at theTeam.co.uk
